A legal requirement within Spanish territories for vessels upwards of 24m in build or undergoing significant refit or repair work. This is applicable for private and commercial vessels regardless of Flag State.
WHAT IS IT?
The supervision of a build, repair, or refit by an accredited Naval Architect in line with the Spanish Law.
REFERENCE LAW: Real Decreto 1837/2000, de 10 de Noviembre, por el que se aprueba el Reglamento de inspección y certificación de buques civiles.
WHAT WORKS ARE SUBJECTED TO THE PROJECT DIRECTION LAW?
All works that affect or are related to the structure, stability, propulsion, fire, and other safety systems, and any works related to MARPOL or SOLAS.
HOW CAN I ENSURE THAT I AM WORKING WITHIN THE LAW?
Our accredited Naval Engineers will evaluate your worklist and inform you of which tasks fall within the Project Direction categories.
WHO CAN LEGALLY TAKE CARE OF PROJECT DIRECTION?
Only Certified and Accredited Naval Architects will the required consequential loss insurance.
